Nancy Blay (EMLV 2013) co-author of a key report on the future of Australian rivers
With over ten years of international experience in finance, Nancy Blay has chosen to put her strategic expertise to work in the service of ecological transition.
A 2013 graduate of EMLV with a career marked by positions of responsibility at ING Bank in Europe and then at Westpac in Australia, she is equally skilled in managing complex financial projects and leading interdisciplinary and multicultural teams.
Committed to regenerative economic models, Nancy works to integrate sustainable strategies that reconcile economic viability with ecosystem restoration. Passionate about water management and urban biodiversity, she contributed to the development of innovative solutions during her time at the University of Oxford. Highly involved in professional networks, she is an active member of Women in Cleantech and Sustainability and Women's Environmental Leadership Australia, and leads initiatives to promote the visibility of women from minority backgrounds in the environmental sector.

Nancy recently co-authored a landmark report entitled The Lifeblood of Inland NSW: The Socio-Economic and Cultural Importance of Healthy Rivers, in collaboration with the Nature Conservation Council of New South Wales. This document highlights the vital role of the Murray–Darling Basin, demonstrating that the health of rivers determines the economic dynamism, social well-being, and cultural vitality of local communities. The report calls for more sustainable water management, including the restoration of environmental flows and recognition of the rights of Indigenous peoples.
