Choosing to study abroad is often a gamble. For Atmadeep Das, it turned out to be a real career booster. Now Head of Innovation at Ringover, he looks back on his career path and the impact of his MBA in Digital Marketing & Strategy at EMLV.

The MBA as a springboard to the French market

When Atmadeep decided to pursue his studies in France, he was primarily looking for a program that combined academic expertise with professional immersion.

I chose this program because it offered an exceptional, integrated blend of theoretical knowledge and hands-on industry experience. As a professional who was already working in the field, the one-year, practice-based MBA format was highly appealing. The emphasis on corporate engagement and mandatory internships provided the practical acceleration I was looking for to take the next step in my career.

For Atmadeep, the MBA played a key role at the beginning of his career.

The program's focus on practical application, particularly the opportunity to collaborate directly with established brands, was highly transformative. It significantly broadened my professional exposure, refined my practical skill set, and accelerated my overall professional development by bridging the gap between classroom concepts and real-world business challenges.

First projects and major responsibilities

After obtaining his MBA, Atmadeep began his career as a Digital Project Manager. After a few years, he turned to entrepreneurship, successfully founding and selling two tech companies: AccioIbis and ReChord.ai. These experiences marked a turning point in his career and gradually led him to increasingly technical roles.

I then joined Ringover as a Growth Engineer, a role that perfectly blended my understanding of digital marketing tools with software development. From there, I advanced to Product Manager of Innovation, and I currently serve as the Head of Innovation at Ringover. In this executive role, I oversee a dynamic mix of intensive software development, product strategy, technical vision, new product development, and cross-functional team management.

Did the MBA help him on this journey? The answer is yes!

The MBA was instrumental in providing my initial career breakthrough; it directly facilitated my first role as a Chef de Projet Digital. While the program was perhaps less focused on traditional executive management theory, it excelled at providing the tactical, industry-specific skills necessary to secure a strong foothold in the digital sector.

Skills, practice, and immersion: the winning trio

The MBA is designed for those who want to learn by doing, combining academic theory with professional immersion. For Atmadeep, it is primarily aimed at specific profiles, those who want to get the most out of this experience:

  1. You are passionate about Digital Marketing and seeking hands-on experience with industry-standard tools and practices.
  2. You are looking for an accelerated, one-year practical curriculum that heavily integrates internship opportunities.
  3. You specifically want to explore and establish yourself in the French marketing landscape.
  4. You are looking to successfully pivot your career into the digital marketing sector.

For those who wish to follow in his footsteps, Atmadeep also offers some practical advice to maximize their chances of integration:

  • Build foundational knowledge: Ensure you have a solid, basic understanding of the digital marketing landscape before applying.
  • Prioritize your French: Marketing is fundamentally about human communication. If you plan to find a job in France, I highly recommend having at least an A2 level of French; it is essential for securing a position and collaborating effectively.
  • Gain prior experience: I advise against taking this course immediately after your undergraduate studies. Having 2 to 3 years of professional experience beforehand will allow you to extract significantly more value from the program.

Beyond skills, the real asset remains the ability to dare, experiment, and confront reality. As Atmadeep says: success in digital marketing doesn't just come from what you learn in class, but from what you dare to do, test, and achieve in the professional world.

Learn, practice, fail, start again—that's how careers that make their mark on the industry are born!

The first network, where it all begins

Investing in your relationships today means preparing for tomorrow's opportunities. In digital marketing, technical skills and creativity are essential, but knowing how to build strategic and authentic connections can transform your career. Mentors, teachers, and trusted colleagues become essential allies in helping you progress, secure concrete opportunities, and reach key milestones in your career.

During my time there, I secured two internship offers through the broader university ecosystem. However, this was primarily the result of my own proactive networking—particularly building strong relationships with my professors—rather than relying on an active, structured alumni network. Ultimately, the faculty connections proved to be the most valuable networking asset.

A strategic network and a valuable degree to take you further!
