Global head of KYC (Know Your Customer) operations at Société Générale, Christophe Genre, who graduated from EMLV in 2003, shares his career path and the key stages of his career in the banking sector.

His career path can be broken down into three major stages:

  • Starting out at ING: He began his career as a credit analyst for large corporates. Investment banking consultant:
  • He then joined an American consulting firm, where he carried out assignments in investment banking and financial markets.
  • Career at Société Générale: He joined Société Générale's investment bank, holding various project management and management positions in the middle and back-office markets, before specializing in compliance and KYC, first in London, then in Paris.

KYC is a regulatory requirement aimed at ensuring that a customer does not present a compliance risk before establishing a business relationship with a bank. Today's KYC issues evolve with the times, technology and regulations, requiring constant adaptation to new requirements.

Christophe stresses the importance of skills such as active listening, clarity in decisions and the ability to say no. He also attributes part of his success to the teaching he received at EMLV, in particular his involvement in associations, which enabled him to develop skills in event organization, management of a number of projects and the development of a team.
