Thibault d'Esteve (EMLV 2001), Executive Export Manager at Marck & Balsan
From sports events to international trade, Thibaut D’Esteve (EMLV 2001) has turned his career into a boundless field of exploration. Now serving as Executive Export Manager at Mark & Balsan, he operates at the intersection of “Made in France,” international trade, and geopolitical issues. He reflects on more than 20 years of international experience, the importance of active listening in his profession, and a conviction that has never left him: turning his passion into a driving force.
A Career Path That Has Taken Me in New Directions
I started out in a field I was passionate about: sports event management. Later, I transitioned to the military sector, where I worked on projects in the Middle East and Latin America. And finally—for the past 22 years now—I’ve been in the business of supplying uniforms and equipment to African governments.
Promoting “Made in France” Beyond Our Borders
We are uniform manufacturers in France, so we promote “Made in France” abroad—and, for my part, particularly in Africa. Our goal is to sell this equipment to governments and defense and security forces that need it.
Our challenges are also linked to international issues, whether in Africa or around the world, since we currently export to nearly 100 countries.
A Business Shaped by International Dynamics
Every day is different. Political and geopolitical developments guide our actions. We work with top-tier partners and have access to the highest levels of government to supply our equipment.
The key factors for success in this field? Motivation and active listening.
EMLV: Learning to Aim Higher
EMLV taught us how to work as a team, how to push ourselves beyond our limits, and gave me the confidence to strive for greater heights and greater achievements.
My advice to students would be to try as much as possible to live out your dreams, to wake up in the morning and be able to work on your passion—almost as if you’re having fun—and to make your work a pleasure. The best advice anyone can give is to live your dreams and live your passion
