Pierre-Antoine, a 2021 graduate of ESILV, returned to campus for the 2025 Alumni Fair. As a risk manager at Crédit Agricole CIB, he draws on his expertise in mathematics, computer science, and finance to navigate with agility in an ever-changing world.

With rigor, curiosity, and analysis, he shares his experience since joining the Vinci Investments association for those who want to understand market finance and use numbers to better guide decisions.

What are the major milestones in your career?

One of the first major milestones was being offered my first job as a Risk Analyst, Market Activity Monitoring, which I started in 2021, just after completing my end-of-studies internship.

The second major milestone came at the beginning of this year: a new position as Risk Manager, which allows me to develop new skills. I help make decisions in the context of risk analysis, i.e., indicators, on new products or new features to be processed, at the level of a structured product, such as a stock.

What do you particularly like about this job?

What I like about this job is that it depends on the market. In other words, when the market changes, there are new things to put in place, so no two days are ever the same. I also like the fact that it's market finance, which is what I studied: mathematics, computer science, and finance.

What are your current challenges?

Political uncertainty. Every political decision has an impact on the market, as does the implementation of various regulations following the events and crises of recent years.

What are the key factors for success in this profession?

I would say rigor, because it's a profession that involves a lot of numbers.

Curiosity, because it's a field where you have to try to understand everything in order to help with decision-making. You really have to take everything into account.

And I would also say a certain analytical mind. You still have to take your time, analyze different indicators and certain information.

How did your studies contribute to who you are today?

They allowed me to better understand the fields I wanted to work in and develop skills such as IT, which became a passion, mathematics, and finance, which is also very important to me.

I was part of Vinci Investments, ESILV's finance association. It allowed me to learn more about finance, work on more concrete projects, and meet people in the field. It really guided me! As a former member of this association, I come back to give masterclasses to present my job, explain indicators, and develop a bit of that association spirit.

What does being an alumnus mean to you?

For me, the Alumni have two roles:

A role towards students: I feel it is my duty to share my experiences with them. When I was in their shoes, I enjoyed spending time talking to alumni; I wanted to learn more. Now it's my turn to be there, to participate in events like the Alumni Fair, to respond to messages on LinkedIn.

A connection with alumni: I think it brings us closer together, despite everything, because we went to the same school. That's a first connection, after all.

An alumnus to follow!
