Master Class Philo HR: showing how philosophy is an integral part of working life
A welcome dose of perspective!
It's not a question of lecturing on Kant, Aristote, Platon or Descartes, but of using philosophy as a methodology and reading grid.
Awakening the critical spirit
Making room for contradiction
We open this cycle of Philo HR Master Classes with Hume's Fork. David Hume, 18th-century Scottish philosopher, introduces us to two fundamental notions: the analytical and the synthetic, so that our writings and speeches become useful and effective management tools.
Jean-Etienne Joullié and Philippe Spach, EMLV Management and HR lecturers, propose this workshop to introduce you to its fundamentals.
Have you ever had the feeling that someone is wasting your time, without knowing exactly why?
When a consultant tells you, with the tone of one who deigns to share a precious secret with you, 'Motivated employees work hard' or 'Companies that survive are those that adapt to their market', you thank them, although you can't help thinking they're taking you for a fool.
In this master class, Jean-Etienne Joullié and Philippe Spach explain how Hume's Fork can be used to identify the nonsense in these propositions, and above all, teach you how to use it to your own advantage.
They'll show you how to formulate useful sentences, both for yourself and for your audience.
At the end of the session, you can put your newly-honed critical thinking skills to the test with a little quiz!
When: Tuesday, October 24 - 8am-9.30am
