The Mona Lisa Cordée: A Strong Commitment by De Vinci Higher Education to Equal Opportunities
For the second consecutive year, De Vinci Higher Education actively participates in the Cordées de la Réussite program, a national initiative aimed at promoting equal opportunities in education. Through the Mona Lisa Cordée, De Vinci Higher Education supports middle and high school students from four institutions in Nanterre: André Doucet and Paul Éluard middle schools, as well as Joliot Curie Polytechnic High School and Claude Chappe Vocational High School.
Tutoring to foster academic ambition
This year, the Mona Lisa Cordée program is assisting nearly 70 students in grades 8, 9, 10, and 11. The program relies on personalized tutoring provided by 22 students from De Vinci Higher Education’s schools (EMLV, ESILV, and IIM). These tutors, trained by the Article 1 association, play a key role in helping younger students build their academic plans and boost their self-esteem.
A locally rooted educational partnership
The program is based on initiatives tailored to the needs of the students and developed in collaboration with their schools. These activities, anchored in the Nanterre area, aim to open new horizons without requiring students to leave their region.
Among the activities offered are:
1. Career Guidance and Professional Discovery
- Attendance at the Student Fair for 11th-grade STMG students.
- Immersive experiences in the three post-secondary schools of De Vinci Higher Education.
- Visits to professional sites, such as the Electrolab in Nanterre and La Poste’s Spot center in Issy-les-Moulineaux.
2. Personal Development and Soft Skills
- Workshops on public speaking and self-confidence.
- Academic support for 9th-grade students preparing for the brevet exam, provided by the LéoLearning student association.
3. Cultural and Sports Activities
- Creative workshops at Radio France, where middle schoolers become interviewers and technicians.
- Visits to iconic locations such as the Opéra Garnier.
- Sports activities, including climbing and an introductory flight experience.
Tangible results and mutual benefits
By fostering exchanges between higher education students and secondary school students, the Mona Lisa Cordée creates an enriching intergenerational dynamic. According to Nicolas Glady, Director of De Vinci Higher Education:
"The Cordées de la Réussite embody a unique opportunity for our students, middle and high schoolers to work together on their aspirations and perspectives. This collaboration benefits them as much as it does us. These shared insights, rooted in partnerships with local actors, allow us to broaden horizons, build lasting connections, and enhance the educational and social impact within our community. Together, we are building a more inclusive and supportive future."
A Commitment to Inclusion and Equal Opportunities
Through these initiatives, De Vinci Higher Education strengthens its commitment to inclusion and equal opportunities. The Mona Lisa Cordée is part of a broader mobilization effort that includes the Institut de l’Engagement and the Les Pilotes association.
Together, these actors are working to build sustainable, intergenerational, and socially inclusive educational partnerships.
