PikkoPay, an innovative start-up founded by Alexandre Chen (2021), is transforming the in-store shopping experience with its Scan&Go solution. In collaboration with Supermarché Match, this new technology aims to eliminate queues thanks to a smartphone payment system.

A solution for hassle-free payments

PikkoPay's mission is clear: to make in-store payments quick and stress-free. By using a QR code placed at various points in the shop, customers can turn their smartphone into an automatic checkout. This system allows them to scan product barcodes and pay instantly via Apple Pay, Google Pay or simply by scanning their bank card. Once payment has been made, the product anti-theft system is deactivated, allowing customers to leave the shop without going through the traditional cash desk.

Rapid growth for PikkoPay

After being incubated at Station F in Paris, the PikkoPay team decided to relocate its activities to Troyes, following their participation in the Plug & Start event organised by the Technopole de l'Aube in Champagne. This young company attracted the attention of investors, raising €210,000 through a combination of business angels, personal funds, grants and bank debt.

Strategic partnerships and promising tests

Since April 2023, the PikkoPay solution has been in a test phase in several shops. It was initially deployed at a Carrefour franchisee in Troyes and is currently being tested in six shops, already generating sales of €70,030. PikkoPay recently signed a partnership agreement with the Match supermarket chain to test its payment solution. If the results are conclusive, a national roll-out is envisaged.

The origin of the idea: a response to a pressing need

The idea for PikkoPay was born in Alexandre Chen's mind at the end of his engineering studies at ESILV. Faced with the problem of long queues at checkouts, Alexandre was inspired by technologies such as RFID used by Decathlon. He came up with a system that could be accessed by everyone and installed in just a few hours, using existing technologies such as QR codes and smartphones to simplify and speed up the checkout process.

Revolutionising the in-store shopping experience

By understanding the current needs of consumers and retailers, PikkoPay has developed a solution that is both innovative and practical. With tests under way in several retailers and promising partnerships, the start-up is well positioned to revolutionise the in-store shopping experience in France.
