Ludovic Mao, who graduated from EMLV in 2003, embodies expertise in digital innovation and the creation of digital experiences in the world of luxury. Currently Director of Digital Operations for the Creation x Perfumes & Beauty and Watches & Jewelry divisions at Chanel, Ludovic has established himself as a key player in digital transformation, combining technology and creativity to reinforce brand image.

A career built on technology

Fascinated by technology from an early age, Ludovic Mao quickly oriented his academic career towards computer science. In 2002, he obtained a Master's degree in Artificial Intelligence and Databases from the Université Pierre et Marie Curie. The following year, he chose to continue his studies at EMLV, where he obtained an MBA in 2003, an already visionary program with a strong digital orientation.

This high-level training provided him with essential skills in digital marketing and e-commerce, sectors in which he excels today. In 2016, he further strengthened his profile by obtaining Prince2 certification in project management, enabling him to lead complex teams and projects.

Marketing and e-commerce at the heart of his career path

Ludovic Mao doesn't limit himself to pure technology; he is also driven by fields such as marketing, user experience (UX), and digital project management. These areas have become essential drivers of his daily professional life. Creating efficient organizational structures, improving processes and finding innovative solutions are all passions that fuel his work.

These skills and enthusiasm led him to join Chanel, where he has been working for over six years. Ludovic started out as Director of Digital Operations before moving on to his current position as Director of Design and Digital Experiences within the Global Artistic Direction for the Perfumes and Beauty division.

Today, he oversees a team of 30 digital project managers and a creative department of 70. Together, they design innovative digital experiences that reinforce Chanel's positioning in the world of luxury.

The impact of EMLV on his career path

Ludovic Mao's time at EMLV marked a turning point in his career. At the time, EMLV was already offering an MBA focused on digital, a pioneering approach that had a profound influence on him. The course, taught by industry professionals and online business founders, provided him with in-depth knowledge and practical skills in the digital field.

Ludovic emphasizes that his MBA at EMLV taught him a mentality of innovation and continuous learning. These principles have helped him stay at the forefront of emerging technologies, particularly in the fields of digital marketing and artificial intelligence applied to luxury.

A vision for the future at Chanel

As Director of Design and Digital Experiences at Chanel, Ludovic now focuses on projects combining UX/UI, "phygital" (physical + digital) experiences, and artificial intelligence-driven innovations. His aim is to harness technological advances to push back the boundaries of creativity and innovation.

AI, in particular, is central to his vision, and Ludovic is determined to explore how this technology can be used to multiply creative opportunities within Chanel.

Advice for future digital leaders

For those wishing to follow a similar path, Ludovic Mao offers one piece of advice: pursue your passions. When you love what you do, you're naturally driven to excel. He also encourages young talent to cultivate curiosity and never stop learning. In an ever-changing digital world, staying on top of trends is essential to success.
