Afterwork | Cyber-Resilience: The New Approach to Cybersecurity

Geopolitical tensions, threats, the erosion of traditional alliances... we are facing a hybrid war that is escalating in cyberspace and seeking to undermine the technical and human foundations of our national resilience. In this context, cyber resilience is more than ever a systemic issue.

Walter PERETTI, Head of Connected Objects and Cybersecurity at ESILV, presents this thematic conference in three illustrated points

  • The international context and its threats
  • The need to move from cybersecurity to cyber resilience
  • European ambition

Onepoint, a partner company of the Léonard de Vinci Cluster, will host this event on Thursday, October 9, at 6:30 p.m. in its lounges at the Trocadéro, 14 avenue d'Eylau, 75016 Paris.

On the agenda

This 40-minute conference will leave plenty of time for questions from the audience.

Walter Peretti is an engineer specializing in diagnostics and operational safety for industrial systems.

He began his career in Formula 1 at Renault Sport before moving into higher education.

He taught at École Centrale Paris, then at ESILV, where he designed training courses on embedded systems and the IoT before taking on responsibility for cybersecurity development.

He is now head of the SecNumedu-certified master's program in Connected Objects and Cybersecurity and head of the Cyber Campus for ESILV.

His areas of expertise include connected systems security, risk analysis, and cybersecurity management.

In a world where geopolitical tensions and threats are omnipresent, at a time when traditional alliances are crumbling, we are facing a hybrid war that is intensifying in cyberspace and spreading to cognitive theaters of operations, seeking to undermine the technical and human foundations of our national resilience. This context makes cyber resilience a systemic issue, closely linked to the resilience of our nation and Europe.

In this “dangerous” world, where cyberattacks can paralyze critical infrastructure and jeopardize the safety of citizens as well as their confidence, it is crucial that a nation be able to recover quickly from a cyber crisis. Cyber resilience is no longer limited to the resilience of information systems; it reflects the strength of a society in the face of various threats. By integrating this concept into our national strategy, we are not only strengthening our security, but also our social cohesion and collective confidence. This is in line with objectives 2 and 4 of the 2025 National Strategic Review: “A united and resilient France: contributing to the moral rearmament of the nation to deal with crises” and “First-rate cyber resilience.”

The European Union also supports this approach through regulations and directives such as DORA, NIS2, and the Cyber Resilience Act. These texts emphasize the importance of cyber resilience and impose requirements that encourage states and companies to develop their resilience capabilities, thereby ensuring the continuity of essential services and the protection of democratic values.

Cyber resilience is thus becoming a vector of digital sovereignty, inseparable from national and European resilience. It is a strategic lever for dealing with crises, protecting our critical infrastructure, and ensuring the sustainability of our societies in an increasingly complex and interconnected environment. Investing in cyber resilience is therefore not only a technical necessity, but also imperative for ensuring a secure and stable future for all.

Focus of reflection

  • International context: A world at hybrid war
  • From cybersecurity to sovereignty: cyber resilience in action
  • Towards collective resilience: Europe's ambition is clear
