Paul Leduc (IIM 2023), Technical Lead on the French video game TOKENS

Alumni IIM

Game design, web development, video editing, graphic design… From a very early age, Paul Leduc explored the many facets of the digital world with a curiosity that would never leave him. It was therefore only natural that he enrolled at IIM Digital School, drawn to a program that could offer him a comprehensive overview of digital careers before he specialized.

He began by exploring game design before turning to programming, convinced that understanding the mechanics of a game is just as important as knowing how to develop them. This dual skill set now allows him to collaborate effectively with both designers and developers and to maintain a holistic view of the projects he contributes to.

Throughout his studies, Paul gained extensive hands-on experience. Collaborative projects, team-based game development, and immersion in the real-world constraints of a studio provided him with numerous opportunities to refine his technical expertise and his ability to transform an idea into a gaming experience. His academic exchange in Dublin rounded out this journey by broadening his international perspective and offering him a new way of approaching his profession.

But it was also thanks to the people he met during his studies that his professional journey began to take shape. He crossed paths with Quentin, a lecturer at IIM, as well as the designer of the game *Tokens* and director of the studio Atelier QDB, who took him on as an intern for his final-year project.

This is a perfect illustration of what makes the alumni network so powerful: connections that extend beyond the classroom and sometimes become the starting point for a career.

After earning his master’s degree in Game Programming in 2023, Paul is now part of a new generation of developers who navigate with ease between technical skills, creativity, and production. As Technical Lead at the rapidly rising French studio Atelier QDB, he is contributing to the development of TOKENS, one of the most anticipated French indie games of the coming years.

His journey demonstrates that, beyond technical mastery, it is often curiosity, versatility, and the ability to learn continuously that make the difference in an ever-evolving industry.
