Cyber Resilience as a shared vision: conference by Walter Peretti at Onepoint
On October 9, students and alumni gathered in the Trocadero salons of Onepoint, partner company of the Pôle Léonard de Vinci, for a captivating conference led by Walter Peretti, engineer and head of ESILV's cybersecurity master program.
This event was an opportunity to explore the concept of cyber resilience, a major issue in technological, economic, and societal transformations, and to reflect on how to protect our societies and our sovereignty when faced with crises in cyberspace.
An expert perspective on cybersecurity and resilience
With an engineering background, Walter Peretti began his career in Formula 1 at Renault Sport before devoting himself to teaching and research. Today, he represents ESILV at Campus Cyber.
His presentation provided a clear overview of the current challenges, highlighting the geopolitical, technological, and ideological upheavals that are redefining our attitude towards sovereignty and digital security.
A shifting international context
Concerns are no longer limited to tensions coming from the East, but now also involve certain players across Atlantic, who view technology as a lever for societal influence, raising questions about its impact on democratic values and the role of humans in digital systems.
France is coming to realize its digital dependence on US giants, whose ability to restrict access to certain services can undermine national sovereignty. The idea of “breaking free” from this dependence, although costly, is becoming a necessity.
Resilience: the challenge of the future
The 2025 National Strategic Review makes resilience a central objective. It is no longer just a question of cybersecurity, but of the ability to maintain essential functions despite a major digital crisis. Some countries, such as Finland, already have solutions in place to switch to a downgraded internet in case of such a threat.
Disinformation, a growing danger
Beyond technology, resilience includes social cohesion and collective trust. Experts from the World Economic Forum and the UN warn of the impact of disinformation, which weakens society and democratic processes and could become the number one global risk within two years.
A rallying call to put people back at the core
In conclusion, the need to rethink cybersecurity as a more comprehensive approach to information security, centered on people, was reiterated. The challenge goes beyond simple data protection: it is also about preserving our societies, our autonomy, and the fundamental values that underpin them.
An evening of inspiration and collaboration
The meeting also highlighted the vitality of the Pôle Léonard de Vinci ecosystem: the DaVinciCode association, represented by Noah Brajtman, and Proteus DeVinci, with Fawzi El Ghazoui, presented their cyber security, digital sovereignty, and emerging technology activities.
Adrien Pallares, Cyber Risk Leader at Onepoint, introduced the Cyber Practice, reiterating their commitment to safe and responsible digital transformation.
The evening ended with a convivial cocktail reception, where discussions and reflections continued over a drink. Sharing experiences, asking questions, envisioning a more resilient future, debating, exchanging ideas... the network came alive! This networking event between experts, enthusiasts, and people curious about the topic will be remembered as an “inspiring,” “enriching,” and “promising” evening.
Stay tuned for our upcoming events, which promise collaborations, innovations, and ever more exciting topics!
